The Marin County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Nutritionist to lead our team in providing essential nutrition support and education to our community. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor WIC staff, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery while fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace culture. You will develop and implement nutrition education services tailored to the diverse needs of our WIC participants, empowering families with the knowledge and resources to make informed dietary choices. This part time (0.8 FTE) Senior Nutritionist position is within the Public Health Division of the Health and Human Services Department at the County of Marin.
Fixed-Term: This is a 36-month, fixed-term position. This position is budgeted through September 30, 2028. However, there may be opportunities for the hired individual during this time-period to move to a regular, ongoing position as other vacancies or promotional opportunities occur, or the position may be funded and converted to an ongoing position. Fixed-term employment ends when the position’s funding finishes, or the work is completed. Employees in these positions are exempt from the County’s policies regarding lay-off order and reduction-in-force rights.
Bilingual Testing/Certification: The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.
Bilingual Differential Pay: This position is eligible to receive a five (5%) percent bilingual salary differential based upon the position's hourly rate of pay for the incumbent.

Minimum Qualifications and Certifications & Licenses:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed. Typically, equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, public health or a closely related field and one year of experience in public health nutrition, perinatal nutrition, or social services community nutrition programs depending on assignment.
Certificates and Licenses
Current registration as a Dietitian or Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Knowledge of:
Nutrition programs that are publicly funded or regulated by federal, state or local laws.
Principles, techniques and practices in the field of nutrition and dietetics as it relates to public health practices and disease.
Analytical and statistical research methods used in nutritional investigation and dietary studies.
Social, cultural and economic considerations pertinent to community health and nutrition.
Methods and skills used in training others in the principles of nutrition.
Community resources in public health nutrition.
Principles of institutional food service management and consulting.
Nutritional values of a wide range of foods.
Meal planning and food preparation within financial constraints.
Ability to:
Apply methods and techniques used in nutrition investigation and dietary studies.
Accurately assess nutritional needs and make recommendations consistent with sound nutritional practice and clients’ ability to implement given finances, dietary practice and family preferences.
Plan, organize and conduct public presentations and training programs on nutrition and nutrition related topics accurately and in a culturally-sensitive manner.
Write informational materials explaining technical concepts and practices in understandable terms; provide technical assistance on nutrition and food service programs.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, other departments and agencies, and community partners and the public.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reports.
Effectively organize, plan, and coordinate the work of staff and volunteers.
Research, interpret and explain policies, rules and regulations; suggest policy implementation and changes.
